Honorary Co-Chairs

I am very excited about the opportunity to serve as co-chair of The Leucan Experience. It is another fabulous opportunity for me to be involved with leading organizations that provide support or research for cures to the terrible affliction that is cancer. Leucan’s reputation for providing support to young patients and their families makes them very attractive to try to help and contribute.

In addition to Leucan, I have been involved with or continue to be involved with other cancer agencies like The Cancer Research Society, The Goodman Cancer Research Centre, The Princess Margaret Cancer Centre and The Canadian Cancer Society. I have served on boards or volunteered or participated in fundraising for all these organizations. The involvement has been very rewarding and has brought me closer to the reality that there is still a tremendous amount of work to do. So I wish to continue or expand my involvement and Leucan is a great organization to align with to meet my personal goals.

In addition to my personal devotion to support cancer agencies, the company I work for has been a supporter of the agencies and Leucan in particular. McKesson Canada, as a leading health care service provider, is a natural partner for health agencies but supports Leucan in particular because of its cause, impact and reputation for excellence.

I am looking forward to a successful event with the support of all our partners to continue our battle.

I graduated medical school over 40 years ago and have dedicated my professional and business career to helping people both prevent illness and cope with the treatments when disease strikes. Having seen many successes and failures over four decades — none are as remotely touching as having a child face the dreaded diagnosis of cancer. Particularly in childhood leukemias, the progress and successes over the past decades have been nothing short of remarkable! This has been in no small part because of the research, tech and medication advances that have empowered health care teams to make huge strides.

But the failures are still all too frequent and there is much to do. I plan on helping to make that happen, which is why I accepted to be the co-chair of this event with my dear friend Domenic Pilla. Together, he and I and you and we — all of us — have made a difference in the lives of children and together we can move the “cure train” along even faster. So help us to do that — and feel that you are making a difference in the lives of kids. They are your children, your grandchildren, your nieces and nephews! They are our future. Don’t let them down and do yourself a big, big favour as well.

As the Chef of The 2017 Leucan Experience, I am very pleased to offer my team’s and my own culinary expertise for a cause that we strongly believe in. We will combine gastronomy and know-how in the hopes of furthering Leucan’s cause: promoting the recovery and the well-being of cancer stricken children and supporting their families.

Laurent Godbout’s culinary creations are contemporary, expressive and inventive. Known as the primary initiator of the concept of culinary entertainment in Quebec, his style relies on a constant quest for innovation in order to preserve and enhance flavours.
